The name “The Chongkeys” (chong-keys – as pronounce) was given by the band it self, from the word “chong” or also use as “tyong” is a Filipino slang word for “tiyo” or in modern days its also considered as a call for close friends. This is the word they use to call each other in the start then they added the word “keys” as they thought “music” is the “key” for them to formed a mix genre band of good music.
The four members met their “destiny today” in the year 2004, while hanging out in a mini bar called Groove Shop (that also sells clothing line, arts and crafts), located in Marikina. They started merely tripping on the music they listen to: Trip Hop, Punk Rock, Rap, Rock, Funk, Hardcore, and a soul full of Reggae. Gaining good impression and reviews, their tripping turned into a series of serious performances that gave birth to a 4-peace band called “The Chongkeys”.
Johan Lugtu (guitarist/vocals) is from Cakewalk, a hardcore band; Mark Marquez (drummer) from the band Cherry Cornflakes & also a guitarist from Dai I Chi; Denis Deloviar (bass) also from the band Dai I Chi, while Benjie Estanislao (vocals) who owns the Groove Shop bar, is a die-hard listener of trip-hop (electronic music), punk, funk, dub and a whole lot of reggae.
A little Rock, a little Rap, a little Funk, a bit touch of hardcore, dub and a soulful of Reggae rolled into one. The Chongkeys is a band that may have not recognized their genre yet (some say it is rock reggae or hard reggae) but for them it’s all good, it’s music.
STOLENSHOTS, a SKA band that comes from the small town of Legazpi City, province of Albay.
The band was originally formed on 2003 by one of the members of the band, Payirl, who at that time wanted to set a band just to join the band fest.
But because the members of the band had one thing in common, being a music lover and inspired by the music of the renown SKA bands, they decided to continue what they hadstarted, from that the name stolenshots was established.
On June 2008, stolenshots is featured in the MUSIKMAX BICOL Cd compilation album under Rebolusyon Rekords where they share three groovy and skankin’ original song compositions, “Movin’ to the Top” “Chocolate Brown Coffee” and the anthemic “Rudies Cry”. That year they were also featured on another Bicolano cd compilation album entitled RIBOK by Club Molotov, where their original song “All the while (I thought)” was the carrier single of the said compilation album.
They also participated on different gigs in Manila such as "Sweet and Dandy", "2nd Manila Ska Fest", and "Sarung Banggi".
The band dreams to build a SKA seal and scene not only on their hometown, but as well as throughout Bicol Region, and express the SKA beat on their own way.
